| CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The Chicago Fire Department says six workers are being taken to hospitals after getting a chemical irritant on their skin at the chemical plant where they were working on the city's Far South Side.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
Two workers are being transported in serious condition from the Cygnus Corporation, at 340 East 138th Street. Four other workers were said to be in fair condition.
The fire department says the six workers at the chemical plant were being de-contaminated.
Fire Department spokesman Kevin MacGregor says none of the six workers has life-threatening injuries.
Cygnus Corporation makes soaps and detergents, according to an internet search for the company.
MacGregor says the fire department got the first call just after 10:30 this morning. Twenty minutes later, a hazardous materials situation was declared - and then an EMS Plan One. | Contents of this site are Copyright © 2006 by WBBM |
